Los Alamitos Pool Builder & Backyard Remodeling

Los Alamitos is compact, established, and largely flat — which makes it straightforward ground to build on and a genuinely good market for backyard work.

PoolMax is based in Fountain Valley, minutes away. Being close means real site visits and being present during construction rather than managing a project from a distance.

Custom Pool Builders Serving Los Alamitos

Los Alamitos lots are conventional and workable. No slope engineering, no retaining walls on most properties, and generally enough room for a well-proportioned pool and spa with decking and an entertaining area — provided it’s designed around the yard rather than dropped into it.

That makes this a good city for complete backyard builds rather than pool-only projects. Pool and spa, hardscape and decking, an outdoor kitchen or BBQ island, a fire feature, and landscape planned as one environment under one contract. One schedule, one point of accountability, rather than coordinating four trades who each blame the others when something goes wrong.

Pool Remodeling and Resurfacing in Los Alamitos

The housing stock here skews mid-century, so a good number of the pools are original to the homes.

If yours is one of them, the shell is often still structurally sound — what’s aged out is the interior finish, the waterline tile, the coping, the deck, and the equipment. Replacing those changes the whole character of a backyard for a fraction of what a new pool costs. We resurface in PebbleTec, mini-pebble, polished quartz, and plaster.

One thing to plan for on an older home: the electrical panel. An original service frequently can’t carry a modern pool, spa heater, outdoor kitchen, and an EV charger. We check capacity during the site visit and put any upgrade in the written estimate rather than raising it mid-project.

Permits & City Requirements

Los Alamitos requires contractors and subcontractors to hold a City business license to work within city limits, and requires a completed Sub-Contractor List Form kept at the job site — the City is explicit that projects won’t be finalized without it.

Those are two fair questions to ask any contractor you’re considering, and we’d encourage you to ask them. We’re licensed to work here and we handle the permit process for our clients.

Los Alamitos Pool FAQs

Do you build complete backyards, not just pools?

Yes, and in Los Alamitos, that's often the better approach—the lots have room for it, and one contract is better than four.

My pool came with the house. Is it worth saving?

Usually, if the shell is sound. We assess it first and give you a straightforward answer either way.

Are you licensed to work in Los Alamitos?

Yes. The city requires a business license for contractors and subcontractors, as well as a Sub-Contractor List Form on site. It's worth asking any contractor about both.

Will I need an electrical upgrade?

Often, especially in an older home. We check during the site visit and include any required work in the written estimate.
