Permitting & Engineering

Duration: 1-3 weeks | Navigating local requirements

Before construction begins, the PoolMax team handles the complex, behind-the-scenes work required by Orange County municipalities. This involves drafting and submitting highly detailed architectural site plans to your local building department for comprehensive review and approval.

To guarantee structural perfection, your custom pool design is evaluated by two specialized experts. First, a geotechnical engineer assesses your specific soil conditions—a critical step, especially for properties built near the slopes and hillsides common to Southern California. Next, a structural engineer uses those findings to engineer the exact steel reinforcement and shotcrete specifications required for a rock-solid, lifelong foundation.

We also ensure your project is fully compliant with the California Building Code, incorporating mandatory safety elements such as proper barrier fencing, self-latching gates, door alarms, and anti-entrapment drain systems. From securing the initial permits to coordinating certified special inspections during the concrete phase, our team manages every layer of red tape so you don’t have to lift a finger.

ORANGE COUNTY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Building permit from local jurisdiction (city or county)
  • Geotechnical and structural engineering reports
  • Pool safety barrier: minimum 5 ft high, non-climbable
  • Self-closing/self-latching gates, door alarms required
  • Certified shotcrete special inspection during placement
